02 Feb Fritz named Unison Bank Artist of the Month
North Dakota native, Jodi Fritz, was selected as a local financial institution’s featured artist for February 2021.
Each month, Unison Bank features local artists, photographers, quilters and creators and their products or services. Since 2013, they have featured 85 artisans.
February’s featured artist, Fritz, has displayed several oil paintings within the lobby of Unison Bank in Jamestown, N.D.
“Color excites me because it creates emotion,” said Fritz. “Art should convey a mood and evoke feelings when someone views it. That’s why I paint; I want to bring about an emotion in you.”
Fritz began painting after her great aunt, Ruth Buchmiller – an established artist, placed Fritz’s first paintbrush in her hand, a canvas in front of her and told her to paint a legendary North Dakota sunset. Fritz continued learning about colors and how to mix them from her mentor, RoseMary Landsburger.
From Fritz’s first painting with her great aunt, she has continued to paint for friends and family, and selling her artwork along the way. Her pieces often include oil paintings, stained glass and acrylics.
We’re honored to allow local artists the opportunity to display their unique talents,” said Unison Bank President & CEO, Kelly Rachel. “Our doors are open, and we invite the community to stop by and see the beauty of what these artists have to offer.”
