03 Mar Norman named Unison Bank Artist of the Month
Unison Bank announced that Keith Norman is the organization’s Artist of the Month for March 2023.
Each month, Unison Bank features local artists, photographers, quilters and creators, and their products or services. Since 2013, they have featured 100 artisans.
Norman, originally from Monango, N.D., now resides in the Jamestown area capturing one-of-a-kind images through the lens of his camera while also taking his readers to places they haven’t seen or ventured to through the creative writing in his books. Norman has displayed a variety of photographs throughout the lobby of Unison Bank in Jamestown, N.D.
“Photography, for me, is an opportunity to observe and enjoy the things around me while capturing that moment for myself and potential viewers,” said Norman. “Walking in a field or park is more enjoyable with a camera for me because it gives me a purpose and helps me slow down and enjoy my surroundings.”
Norman started photography while enrolled at Valley City State University in Valley City, N.D. He viewed it as an expansion of his primary creative expression method of writing. Using both photography and writing, he can take the reader or viewer to a place and time they have not seen.
“In every community, there is hidden talent,” said Unison Bank President & CEO, Kelly Rachel. “We’re honored to be able to provide a platform that helps showcase the creativity that these artists have.”
