19 Feb Suko graduates from banking school
Jeff Suko, a former Jamestown, N.D., native and current Unison Bank vice president senior credit officer in Gilbert, Ariz., recently graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wis.
The Graduate School of Banking has been educating professionals and creating leaders in its industry since 1945. The Graduate School program is designed to prepare mid and upper-level financial services managers for advanced roles of responsibility within their organizations through comprehensive courses that cover the industry and management subjects.
Students, like Suko, are enrolled and attend the school for two weeks each summer, in addition to projects worked on throughout each year. The program focuses on a variety of banking subjects such as lending, investments, deposits, marketing, leadership and management. During the student’s senior year, they participate in the FiSim bank management simulation which incorporates the knowledge they’ve learned with the experience and challenge of managing a bank. Suko began the program in 2018.
“Attending the Graduate School of Banking was a valuable opportunity to enhance my knowledge and understanding of what it takes to lead a community bank,” said Suko.
After attending the school and graduating, Suko gleaned a better perspective of how important many day-to-day decisions within the bank have an impact on both shareholders’ and customers’ expectations. “With this knowledge, I hope to leverage greater results and service to our customers,” Suko shared.
Suko joined the Unison Bank team in 2012 as a Credit Analyst. In 2016, he was promoted to Assistant Vice President Senior Credit Analyst prior to his most recent promotion.
“Unison Bank provides a culture where employees are valued and their efforts are rewarded,” said Suko. “I feel like I can really make an impact toward the success of the bank and provide value and results to our customers.”
In addition to receiving his diploma from the Graduate School of Banking, Suko earned a prestigious Certificate of Executive Leadership from the Wisconsin School of Business Professional and Executive Development Program. This is the highest-level certificate the school offers to its students.
“Our employees are our most valuable asset; therefore, we’re pleased to continue investing in them,” said Unison Bank Chief Credit Officer & AZ Region Market President, Sharon Miller.
